Grinders come in several varieties and sizes- designed to crush and splice dry herbs and spices into smaller components for easier consumption and to ensure that you get the most from your product. The more chambers, the more you're able to separate the components of your product.
Using a "twist method", the two interlocking teeth will cut the dry herb and it will fall down the holes into the next chamber of the grinder or even further towards the bottom catcher. Simply open the grinder by twisting apart any one of the storage compartments and TAH-DAH!
